Turtle Tank Size Calculator
Calculate appropriate tank sizes for different turtle species and sizes
Note: This calculator determines minimum tank requirements based on turtle species, size, and number. Always provide the largest tank possible within your budget and space constraints.

Tank Setup Recommendations
- Water Depth: Should be 2-3 times the turtle's shell length
- Basking Area: 25-30% of tank surface area
- Filtration: 3-4 times tank volume per hour
- Heating: Water 75-80°F, basking area 85-95°F
- UVB Lighting: Essential for shell and bone health
Species-Specific Requirements
Red-Eared Slider
Very active swimmers, need large tanks with deep water
Painted Turtle
Moderate swimmers, prefer shallow areas with basking spots
Musk Turtle
Bottom dwellers, need less water depth but good floor space
Box Turtle
Terrestrial, need more land area than water
Important: These are minimum requirements. Turtles benefit from larger tanks with
proper filtration, heating, and UVB lighting. Consider upgrading to a larger tank as your turtle grows,
and always provide proper basking areas and hiding spots.
