BBT Pattern Interpretation

Normal BBT Range: 97.0-98.6°F (36.1-37.0°C)
Ovulation Temperature Rise: 0.5-1.0°F (0.3-0.6°C)
Luteal Phase: Higher temperatures for 10-16 days
Follicular Phase: Lower, more variable temperatures

Tracking Recommendations

  • Take temperature at the same time each morning
  • Use a digital basal thermometer for accuracy
  • Record temperature before any activity
  • Track for at least 3 cycles for patterns
  • Note any factors that may affect temperature
  • Combine with other fertility signs (cervical mucus, LH tests)
Important: BBT tracking is not a reliable form of contraception. For family planning, combine with other methods and consult healthcare providers. Temperature can be affected by illness, stress, travel, and other factors.
