About FEUrea
FEUrea is useful for AKI differentiation, especially when diuretics are being used (unlike FENa).
FEUrea Formula:
FEUrea = (Urine Urea × Serum Cr) / (Serum Urea × Urine Cr) × 100
Interpretation:
- Prerenal: <35%
- Indeterminate: 35-50%
- Intrinsic: >50%
Advantages over FENa:
- • Less affected by diuretics
- • More reliable in diuretic use
- • Better in volume depletion
- • Useful in heart failure
