About URR
The Urea Reduction Ratio (URR) is a measure of dialysis adequacy that quantifies the percentage of urea removed during dialysis.
URR Formula:
URR = [(PreBUN - PostBUN) / PreBUN] × 100
Interpretation:
- ≥65%: Adequate dialysis
- 60-64%: Borderline adequate
- <60%: Inadequate dialysis
Clinical Significance:
- • Dialysis adequacy assessment
- • Treatment response monitoring
- • Patient outcome prediction
- • Quality assurance
Limitations:
- • Single-pool model
- • Doesn't account for residual renal function
- • May overestimate adequacy
- • Requires accurate blood sampling
Professional Resources:
- • Nephrologist
- • Dialysis nurse
- • Renal dietitian
