How to Simplify Fractions

To simplify a fraction to its lowest terms:

  1. Find the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator
  2. Divide both the numerator and denominator by the GCD
  3. The resulting fraction is in its lowest terms

Example:

  • For 24/36:
  • GCD of 24 and 36 is 12
  • 24 ÷ 12 = 2
  • 36 ÷ 12 = 3
  • Simplified fraction is 2/3
