How to Simplify Fractions
To simplify a fraction to its lowest terms:
- Find the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator
- Divide both the numerator and denominator by the GCD
- The resulting fraction is in its lowest terms
Example:
- For 24/36:
- GCD of 24 and 36 is 12
- 24 ÷ 12 = 2
- 36 ÷ 12 = 3
- Simplified fraction is 2/3
