How to Calculate Polygon Properties
Different formulas are used for regular and irregular polygons:
Regular Polygon
Area: A = (n × s² × cot(π/n))/4
Perimeter: P = n × s
Interior Angle: θ = (n-2) × 180°/n
Exterior Angle: φ = 360°/n
Irregular Polygon
Area: A = ½|Σ(xᵢyᵢ₊₁ - xᵢ₊₁yᵢ)|
Perimeter: P = Σ√((xᵢ₊₁-xᵢ)² + (yᵢ₊₁-yᵢ)²)
Centroid: (Σxᵢ/n, Σyᵢ/n)
Note: For regular polygons, all sides and angles are equal. For irregular polygons, you need to specify the coordinates of each vertex.
