About Slant Height
The slant height is the distance from the apex to any point on the perimeter of the base, measured along the lateral surface. The formulas vary by shape:
- Right Circular Cone: s = √(r² + h²)
- Right Rectangular Pyramid: s = √(h² + (l/2)² + (w/2)²)
- Truncated Cone/Pyramid: s = √(h² + (r₂ - r₁)²)
Where:
- s = slant height
- r = radius (for cone)
- h = height
- l = length (for pyramid)
- w = width (for pyramid)
- r₁ = top radius (for frustum)
- r₂ = bottom radius (for frustum)
