🔄 Shear Modulus Calculator
Calculate shear modulus, elastic constants, and material properties for various materials
📐 Shear Modulus Formulas
G = τ/γ = F/(A × γ)
G = E/(2(1 + ν))
G = 3K(1 - 2ν)/(2(1 + ν))
G = ρ × c_T²
G = shear modulus, τ = shear stress, γ = shear strain, E = Young's modulus, ν = Poisson's ratio, K = bulk modulus, ρ = density, c_T = transverse wave speed

💡 Tips
- Shear modulus is also called the modulus of rigidity
- G is always positive and typically 0.4 times Young's modulus
- For isotropic materials: G = E/(2(1 + ν))
- Higher shear modulus means stiffer material in shear
- Shear modulus is related to transverse wave speed
- For most metals, ν ≈ 0.3, so G ≈ E/2.6
