Buffer Capacity Calculator
Calculate buffer capacity ($\beta$) using Van Slyke's equation
Formula: $\beta = 2.303 \left( \frac{C \cdot K_a \cdot [H^+]}{(K_a + [H^+])^2} + [H^+] + [OH^-] \right)$
Where $C$ is total buffer concentration, $K_a$ is the acid dissociation constant, and $[H^+]$ is the hydrogen ion concentration corresponding to the target pH.

⚠️ Buffer capacity is maximal when the $\text{pH}$ equals the $pK_a$ ($\text{pH} = pK_a$). Solutions lose significant buffering efficiency when the $\text{pH}$ deviates more than 1 unit from the $pK_a$. Always verify buffer preparation experimentally in analytical chemistry and biological assays.
