Estimate sample age using Carbon-14 (¹&sup4;C) radioactive decay
Formula: t = (t1/2 / ln 2) × ln(N0 / N)
Standard Libby half-life for ¹&sup4;C is 5,730 years (Conventionally referenced to AD 1950).

⚠️ Radiocarbon dating calculations assume constant atmospheric $^{14}\text{C}$ production over time. Due to historical fluctuations in cosmic ray flux, raw radiocarbon ages must be calibrated using dendrochronology (tree-ring data) curves like IntCal to determine true calendar years. Reliable dating is generally limited to samples younger than ~50,000–60,000 years.
