About VTE in Pregnancy
Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Pregnancy increases VTE risk 4-5 times compared to non-pregnant women.
VTE Risk Factors:
- High Risk: Previous VTE, thrombophilia
- Moderate Risk: Age >35, obesity, multiple pregnancy
- Low Risk: Young age, normal BMI, no history
- Timing: Highest risk in postpartum period
Risk Categories:

- Moderate: Score 2-3
- High: Score ≥4
Common Symptoms:
- DVT: Leg pain, swelling, warmth
