How it works

Parallel lines have the same slope but different y-intercepts. To find a parallel line:

1. Keep the same slope (m) from the original line
2. Use the new point to find the new y-intercept (b)
3. The equation will be in the form y = mx + b

For a point (x₁, y₁) and slope m, the point-slope form is:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)
